Pacifica Beach Coalition Hosts:
19th Annual Beach Planting Day
Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Event
Held at Linda Mar State Beach in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., this 19th Annual beach will eventually have us look back and remember the transformation from the mono-cultured ice plant to the diverse native species the beach hosts today.
Join the cleanup from 9-10am in the main Linda Mar parking lot by the sea wall just north of Taco Bell.
For the beach planting please join us from 10a.m. to noon near the bike path north of the Crespi Dr. stoplight. With the wonderful rain we’ve had, volunteers are needed for planting on the dunes and along the bike path where we’ve been removing weeds for over four years. With enough people, we can also target weed removal of invasive buckwheat and wild radish. Your help is key to increasing biodiversity and protecting the wintering habitat of the threatened Western snowy plover and other wildlife. Native plants can host up to 400% more insects by mass than non native plants.
Tools and supplies will be provided but volunteers are invited to bring their own shovels, gloves and buckets as well.
Come be a part of something special and honor Martin Luther King too!
