About Us

Classical Ballet of California is a dance studio that has been on Palmetto Ave for 24 years. We offer classes to students ages 3-Adult, Beginning-Professional. We perform to sold-out houses several times a year, including an annual Nutcracker with over 200 participants, consisting of the entire student population as well as local adult performers. Directed by Nina Baratova Amato, a former principal ballerina with the Sacramento Ballet, Classical Ballet of California has been featured in Coastside Magazine and the Pacifica Tribune several times. CBC focuses not only on teaching aspiring dancers, but in helping students build self-esteem, confidence, teamwork and letting their creativity and individuality flow. Along with separate classes for males and adults, Classical Ballet of California has Summer Dance Camps for all ages, where older students have an opportunity to work on their own choreography and costume design. Men's classes are taught by Co-Director Gregory Amato, Conditioning and Contemporary classes are taught by Aline Carili, and Musical Theater Dance classes taught by Minna Rogers. Aside from an annual full-length Nutcracker, CBC has restaged such famous ballets as Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Coppelia, and La Bayadere to fit a student cast, and numerous original ballets such as Adventures in Neverland, The Three Little Pigs, Snow White, Adventures of Alice, and many other short pieces. With a spacious studio full of natural light, professional costumes and competitive prices CBC boasts a warm, inclusive, inviting family atmosphere where everyone dances.
